The Utilities industry has several areas of concern for worker safety:

  • Frequent maintenance of equipment creates high injury potential
  • Electrical shock injury when servicing power grid, hydro lines
  • Chemical / Biologics from sewage treatment facilities, chlorine hazard plus environmental impact could occur – e coli hazard to community
  • Fall injury from servicing utility lines, clearing tree branches from power lines
  • Job Safety Analysis is sometimes a requirement when hiring subcontractors; the JSA becomes part of the work order helping to reduce liability.
