Dyadem Software and ConocoPhillips Agree to Renew License for Security Assessments
|
TORONTO - February 21, 2008 - - ConocoPhillips has renewed its five-year software license from Dyadem, the market leader in Risk Lifecycle Management and Quality Lifecycle Management solutions. The new agreement will continue to help ConocoPhillips improve the efficiency and effectiveness of security assessments at U.S facilities.
Corporate Security Vulnerability Assessments are required to be updated to ensure facility security plans remain comprehensive. ConocoPhillips, a global energy company , has used Dyadem's SVA-Pro to establish a process-oriented methodology for its facility security and risk-management, and plans to bring this established model to its global operations.
Energy-related operations are under increased pressure to resist security breaches that can cause costly shutdowns and production disruptions. ConocoPhillips has a comprehensive set of security standards and with the help of Dyadem's customizable software solution, has developed a consistent set of standards, reduced the margins for procedural error, as well as the time needed to deploy and evaluate threats to on-site security and operations.
Operating facilities are regularly monitoring and updating their security stature to address threats, risks and vulnerabilities. As the U.S. Department of Homeland Security releases new regulations and increases oversight on chemical storage throughout the U.S., companies need a consistent and automated solution to ease reporting and enhance compliance.
"Before Dyadem's SVA-Pro, each facility was using its own checklist to conduct security surveys," says Bob Lee, senior director of global security operations, ConocoPhillips. "We needed a software solution that would meet requirements from the government, as well as best practices from industry organizations like the American Petroleum Institute and the National Petrochemical & Refiners Association.
The level of flexible configuration provided by SVA-Pro allows us to use it in all of our facilities, and has given ConocoPhillips a security framework that is both robust and adaptable to any circumstance."
SVA-Pro has been used by chemical facilities of all types and sizes for years and is one of 14 approved methodologies in the pending Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) evaluation process, known as the Top Screen. The CFATS Top Screen form is required of all U.S. facilities with certain thresholds of dangerous chemicals, as defined by Homeland Security.
The use of SVA-Pro means companies will not lose time or money modifying their global operations to comply with CFATS, which can add layers of complexity and regulation to chemical facility security. Once CFATS requirements are implemented in 2008, organizations that use quantities of certain chemicals will be required to issue reports detailing how these chemicals are stored, transported and secured.
SVA-Pro software enables chemical and process companies to identify vulnerability risks, assign ratings of likelihood and consequences for potential incidents and produce a comprehensive report that outlines data and recommendations for action. It utilizes the SVA methodology developed by the Center for Chemical Process Safety through a licensing agreement with the American Institute of Chemical Engineers.
"Dyadem designed SVA-Pro to arm organizations of all sizes with security solutions for the present and the future," says Kevin North, president and CEO of Dyadem. "By exceeding the requirements of current chemical industry regulations, such as the Maritime Transportation Security Act, and being one of the few methodologies endorsed by the upcoming CFATS Top Screen process, companies using Dyadem's SVA-Pro software are well-equipped to overcome modern security challenges."
