Determine Your Most Critical Safety Systems with Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA)
LOPA is a semi-quantitative risk analysis technique. It is more rigorous than a HAZOP but less time-intensive than a quantitative risk assessment (QRA). LOPA evaluates risks by orders of magnitude of the selected accident scenarios and builds on the information developed in qualitative hazard evaluation. (e.g. PHA). LOPA is applied when a scenario is too complex or the consequence is too severe for the HAZOP team to make a sound judgment based solely upon the qualitative information. LOPA helps you to answer the following questions about your facility:
- What's the likelihood of undesired events / scenarios?
- What's the risk associated with the scenarios?
- Are there sufficient risk mitigation measures?
Dyadem's Solution for LOPA
Dyadem solutions remove the barriers to achieving continuous improvement and help you execute a unified risk management strategy in process industries. Dyadem Stature ensures that you develop a robust knowledge base, allowing for mitigations and controls that are both effective and preventative. Where there is uncertainty, risk assessments can be defined and linked, like SIL and LOPA, allowing full traceability from assessments to mitigation strategies and monitoring of controls. Essential steps in the risk lifecycle are unified on a single, global system with a closed-loop, continuous improvement process, ensuring adequate communication of data and lessons learned across departments, facilities and sites. Stature turns your LOPA into a dynamic predictive tool to evaluate your most critical safety systems and prioritize safeguards.
Features:
Create knowledge-driven LOPAs that leverage consistent corporate terminology and lessons learned and link risk assessment studies
Pre-formatted Industry Standard templates for LOPA as well as Hazards and Operability – HAZOP; What If / Checklist; Preliminary Hazard Analysis – PrHA; Safety Integrity Level – SIL; and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points – HACCP
Manage critical risk characteristics across your organization, ensuring that environmental protection and sustainability, business continuity and both employee and public health and safety initiatives are met
Provide visibility through dashboards and leading and lagging indicators of risk controls and mitigation, resulting in a more comprehensive Process Safety Management program
Link risk assessments and processes to ensure the capture of the critical knowledge that drives environmental health and safety initiatives, sustainable development planning, and full compliance with governing regulations and standards
Conduct incident investigations and manage changes in processes with a lifecycle approach and draw from historical knowledge
